Default EBC: Do you have to bring a pressure line into the cabin?

I've been checking out a few EBC on the web.
Do all of them require you to bring a pressure line into the cabin?

No, most have a cable that runs between the display and the actuator. (actuator is the valve that controls boost) Usually that remains in the engine bay.

The ones with an in-built boost gauge usually need a separate pressure line.

Mine has the gauge and its integrated into the servo assembly, so its just one line. My servo is tucked in under the plastic cover for the blower. The headunit is taped to dash above my right leg. All it has is the cable harness and power/ground.

The pressure sensor for the AVC-r can be mounted in the cabin or in the engine bay, so it's up to the installer.

There's a pressure line running into the cabin anyway to the KLR so who cares?

Well, I care. I've already tapped the KLR for my boost sensor and it's getting really messy underneath the hi-tech floorboard that hides the computer (SMT6 + ZT-2 + boostsensor).

I've been looking at the Greddy Profec B and the Blitz SBC. Do any of these need a pressure line into the cabine to operate properly? I don't need another boost gauge.

The Profec-B (first and second gen) requires a pressure signal going to the main unit. That's how it measures/adjust boost, the solenoid installs in the engine bay and has it's own and larger pressure lines.

One more thing: I would upgrade the WG to dual port before getting the EBC. You might discover that the MBC works fine.

Thanks John. I intend to order a Tial 38mm within a week or two. I will try with the MBC (Accuboost) first.
The general opinion seems to be that an EBC will help spool-up, so I was planning to get one of some sort later this summer.

Eivind, I don't think you want to use the Accuboost (ball & spring) with the dual port. You should be using a bleeder type MBC (similar to the pressure valve on an air compressor).

OK John. Which one would you recommend?

Go to the hardware store and pick any bleeder valve you like (well made of course). All you are doing is bleeding some of the pressurized air to help the spring on the DP WG.

Hey John
That's the one I bought a while ago ...
Is that really a problem ?
Did you like the Profec-B ?

Eivind, if you`re going to order a blits unit, I`m ordering one this days myself! Ordering from www.racingworks.com I`ve actually already ordered, a week ago, but they havent shipped yet because some problems with the VISA transfer. Tell me if you want to participate!
I`m ordering the SBC i-D3, and the Power Perfekt unit.

I`m borrowing a "LR" MBC from a friend (Lars) and this actually does the job pretty good! Nice and steady boost, but I want all the advantage an EBC does provide.

(btw: I got the LR dual-port wg)

BTW, a tuning company here in Norway (Be 4 You) wanted over $1300 for only the SBC i-D3!!! Sick prices!! Hehe
