In my haste to get off the bracket ( I pulled the Alt already )
I can't seem to figure out how it attcahes
I looked at the PET but that only make me more confused
There seems like, a bolt is supposed to go thru the hole that runs
thru the compressor and the bracket ( is this thing press fit in ? )
I tried to remove the whole bracket but the AC compressor wont come off
Maybe thats a good thing
TIA

Ed

Ed,
The bracket is attached to the block with four bolts basically at each corner of the bracket. The compressor is attached with two bolts(1 front, 1 rear). The bracket has a small bushing that compresses against the compressor when the bolts are tightened. The fit can be pretty tight and usually requires you to work the compressor from side to side while pulling down on it for it to come off. If you have the alternator off already, you can lightly tap the compressor with a the wooden end of the happer to get it to start to drop.

Hey Jeremy
Thanks
Funny thing is, I removed those bolts ( I still have to figure which are which )
I had a feeling it was press fit in there. I was saying to myself "If I pull that out I will never get
it back in" ( unless I pull the whole AC out ) Not something I wanted to do.
I was just cleaning things up a bit and wanted access
I would guess if you detach it then you have to pull it out to get that pressed in again.
I hope I didn't move the dam thing too much, because the screws are not grabbing the threads
i.e. it must be mis-alined.
Thanks again for your help
Regards
Ed

Ed,
It's not really "pressed" in there. The brass bushing is designed to slide back and forth, but it is a little tight. Pull the compressor down and tap the bushing out a few MM's with a hammer and an extension. It only takes a couple light taps. It's lot easier then you think. When you tighten the rear compressor bolt back up it'll push it back into place. If the threads aren't grabbing you'll have to do it anyway. If you do decide to remove the entire bracket, be sure you use the correct bolts, washers, and a torque wrench when you put it back on. Those ears on the block love to snap off.

Thanks Jeremy
Where would I find the torque specs on those bolts ?
I am being very careful ... Trust me :-)
