I just finished a top end teardown to include new gaskets and seals
and a Wide Fire headgasket.
With 106k miles on the clock, this is the first time this has been done.
The factory head gasket's fire rings looked pristeen with no
signs of detonation, there was some breakdown in the fiber areas around
the water passages.
I dissasembled the head and measured each valve and guide with calibrated
digital micrometers and each valve showed no.... thats ZERO wear. They were each at the factory new spec.
The guides also... each measured at the low end (small) of the factor spec.
Unbelieveable !!!!
Springs in spec.... spring stack height... in spec. A light Machining (.003 in)
to the head was all that was required to clean it up.

That's good to hear seeing how both of my cars are well over a 100K. My old Acura 2.7L was still on it's original HG and all internals at 240K, now that's longevity. I know our P-cars are built solid but you have to admit the tolerances and build quality on one of the top of the line JDM Acura/Honda/Infiniti/Toyota motors are just incredible.
