thingo, the labour component was under 20% so i decided i'd leave it to the experts, reindexing the torsion bars, not sure if i could have handled that anyway.

But did you have to give them some data so they could build them matched to the rears you got from Paragon?
I guess they would have had to add a rebound adjuster too.......
If I can get this done locally it'll save me a fortune on shipping costs.
Thanks
Dave

dave i got everything locally.
shortyboy - chances are you will need to reindex, you really want to go lower than stock anyhow. Other than forking out for 5hrs labour, reindexing was a breeze

Is anyone running the 3012's without the rear torsion bars? If so what spring rates? I sent Paragon my struts to have them converted to double adjustable struts & I am wondering what to do on the rear. I would rather remove the torsion bars & just run the 3012's

I've ordered the Koni 3012's from Paragon and removed the torsion bars.
I'm running 375# front springs and will be installing 550# in the rear.
The nice thing about this setup is the ability to fine tune the spring rate and ride height without messing with the torsion bars.
Two month's ago I installed new 30mm torsion bars, it was a pain but I figured I would never have to do it again. Then I had one of the torsion bars fail
so had to pull it all apart again. That is when I decided to just got full coilover.

How did the torsion bar fail? I might be doing some suspension work later on this year, and I'm trying to decide between all torsion bar, torsion bar + helper and all coil over setups...

The torsion bar broke at the inner spline. It was a new hollow 30mm bar.
I was originally planning on using a combination t-bar/ coil over setup but after
doing some research found that getting the t-bar and coil over to work together
well would be a pain. Plus you would still have to reindex t-bars if you want to change springs or ride height in the future.
Having just coilovers simplifies everything.

Tconn,
Thanks for the info how did you decide on your spring rates? I had an n/a 944 before & I ran 400 lb fronts & 30mm rear torsion bars & the car handled great at our local events. I am just not sure how heavy to go on my turbo, fronts & rears. The car is a dedicated track car so I am not worried about it being to stiff for the street.
BTW how much weight do you think you lost by removing the torsion bar set up?

I searched through posts to see what others were using, talked with Skip and Chuck at Paragon and picked up a couple of books.
hally has posted a very usefull chart above.
I haven't checked the weight of the t-bars and shocks yet.
The koni 3012's are aluminum so I should see a good weight savings.
I'll weight them before installing them and post the diff.
