Is it possible to wrap the headers and have the wrap last with the heat shields in place?

IMHO spend the extra money and ceramic coat it. Wrap isnt the best way... $140USD for the headers. $280USD to do the headers, downpipe, crossover pipe, and that little one going to the wastegate. 2k degree F Satin Black.

shorty,
Check out performance coatings (http://www.performancecoatings.com/) they have 2000 deg Satin ceramic coating. I got the inside and out of my WRX uppipe and downpipe done by them. I'll be doing my 951 exhaust manifolds eventually.
