Thanks. Shows like Overhauling and Rides have influenced my desire to do a project completely rebuilding a car and addressing all aspects of the car not just focusing on the engine or just the body. I hope to build a very clean and elegant car that is not gaudy in any way. I would hope that the original designers of the car would like what I have done to it. I have read about some very nice 951s on this board and other place but I do not feel that they are as complete as this car. Some are dedicated racers and others are just going for big horse power, I have a great deal of respect for these cars but I feel this car will really set its self apart from the other big name 951s out there. There will be much more info to come on this car as its build and testing comes to completion.

Tms951: You MAY want to look at the hotside, looks a bit restrictive for the engine you have.
You will obviously need bigger brakes for the car

Sorry Hosrom but can you explain how a T4 hotside can become restrictive. Have you ever seen a T4?
Very nice looking project TMS951. Welcome aboard and good luck.

Hosrom, to be honest if I did any thing to the hot side it would be go down to a stage V wheel from the p-trim to get it to kick in a little lower. I would also go with a dual ball bearing CHRA from innovative if I changed the exhaust wheel. I feel I would rather have more power under the curve than big peak power.

Good luck with the project Tms951!
Could you (or someone else) answer me something that has been bugging me:
Is there ANY other difference between the these mahle pistons and the stock ones than the pin location (4.5mm)?
If there are other differences, does anyone know a place (or be kind enough to measure them) of where to get the specs of the piston? I'm ofcourse asking this because I might be able to get a set made for decent price elsewhere.

Jimbo, the housing a/r may be restrictive for the engine here, and to answer you're question, yes i have seen a T4 housing. The Turbonetics dealer here is literally 2 blocks away from my place, i actually see how they assemble, clip and balance a turbocharger.
To add more, i have seen a T4 0.58 a/r actually loose boost in the upper rpms on a 3.0L 951

Aatos,
The pistons I have are also .46mm over because I wanted to clean up my block. They are also called a "motorsports piston set", I don't know if this means they are any better than stock.

Tms951,
I didn't mean the diameter but other dimensions compared to the stock piston.
Obviously there is the 4.5mm difference in the hole placing to fix the clearance problem with 3.0l crank, but is there anything else?
To put it other way; could I just take the stock turbo piston to the factory, and I say 'make it like this but move the pin hole 4.5mm higher' and I would have the mahle piston as a result?

I have posted a few more pictues on the site. Befor I forgot to mention that I have had the Porsche emblem hand painted onto the nose panel, this is one of my favorite parts of the car(the picture is out of focus and doesn't do it justice, I will reshoot it later this week). I also wanted to mention this car will be street legal, is registered now and will pass inspection.

crest on header panel
Who did you have paint the crest onto the header panel? Dear God its wonderful. I've been toying with the idea of getting a crest painted vs. a vintage sticker to replace the original badge on a vented header panel. Any info would be great (contact info that is) - looks like someone spent some serious time. GOOD JOB!
