thanks for the post Tom
The PET Steve sent confirmed what I thought that it's Oringed and bolted in
I assume once you pull this you have to replace the O Rings ?
The one thing that is missing is the PET for the cooling system part
I will need that one. There is a gasket behind that coolant pipe comming out of the head ...

Regards
Ed
Its in PET, look on the page with the cyl head itself. That gasket comes with headgasket kits as well.

The neck thing sits against the head with a gasket, and the CV bracke tlays over the neck mount thing, such that the two bolts you see hold both the neck and the CV mount in place. If you want to remove the CV bracket, you should be able to pull those two bolts and remove the CV mount (without dislodging the now unbolted coolant neck thing) and then just put the bolts back in to hold the neck to the head.

I did remove it but it looks like I should replace that gasket
You should see what a PITA it is to remove those two bolt w/o removing the oil filler tube
The front bolts with a socket on it, hits the OAS and it has to be turned by hand
slower that removing the last bolt on the X over pipe that you have to get from the bottom of the car
The bolts are pretty cruddy looking as well I understand from a previous that someone said to add washers because the bolts would be too long
Go to bed everyone !!!
Regards
Ed
So I need the part # for that gasket

You're in luck on the gasket. I happen to have one "in stock" and it comes with free weekend delivery.

Hos -- if I recall, Porsche does not sell the big O-ring needed to reseal the top as a separate part. I think it was Scott Gomes who had sourced the right o-ring and is willing to sell them to those in need.

Yes, Porsche sells the whole AOS as one unit (not including the small seals).

Ed, the reason the head came off is because i did not shim the bolts. I tried the first one with caution, and it went in and didnt bottom out. So the second one I assumed would do so as well. I jusr ran it down quickly and it bottomed out and snaped. So now i had a broken bolt in the head, sitting pretty much flush. I drilled it out, tried to EZ out, didnt work cause its too tight in there. I i just drilled the entire hole. I went to retap. and the TAP snapped in the hole! So the head came off... At least now I have some nice porting and tastey valve work with a new WF hg!
