Default drilling your cycling valve for less lag

I read that drilling a small hole in your cycling valve located underneath the intake manifold can reduce turbo lag by a great del. Is there any truth to this ? If so how much of a reduction is there - and if it is so simple why didn't the factory place a hole there from the start

Never heard of drilling a hole in it, but i had europroducts chips before and they suggested opening out one of the ports in the cycling valve by drilling it, i never got around to doing this so cant say what the benefits are

i'd have thought drilling a hole in it would just give you a vacuum leak! drilling out the ports, now that's a different question.....

Drilling a hole was what some people did in the early days to override the factory boost control and to run more boost. This was before MBC's and EBC's became widely available as they are today. If you want to run more boost, don't bother drilling the CV. Use an aftermarket boost controller and get proper aftermarket chips to ensure correct fueling.

Agreed. I imagine the same thing could be accomplished by drilling a hole in the control line going to the wastegare.
