200# or 250# front springs on Street?

Three Wheelin'
I have 250# springs and 28mm torsion bars an do not consider it too stiff for the street. But the struts are adjustable for height and all four Bilsteins have been revalved for the spring rates.

when the car is at Don's shop on tuesday I can just have him tell me.
Problem solved. lol.
Maybe its just because I am used to it but, the ride just doesnt seem to bother me that much. I love the way it rolls over bumps. My friends cars have these full coil over sets.....250lb springs and adjustable dampers..yada yada yada.. There suspensions never feel as solid as mine does.

I have the Weltmeister 220 lb springs on the front with the spacers. Ride height is stock and the ride quality is excellent. I have the M030 rear sway bar, otherwise suspension is stock.
Springs came from Performance.
I am very very happy with this setup.

i recently had a long phone conversation with chuck from paragon about this issue. he suggests not going over 200 lbs unless you upgrade the rear t-bars or add coil-overs in the back. since you are doing the t-bars, 250 would be fine. im actually ordering my 200s right now

With respect to ride, i hear that you shouldn't just consider spring rates in isolation, as the shock valving plays a part also. It has been suggested to me that 300-350 at the front with appropriate revalving would be good track setup while still being street friendly (in tandem with matching coilover helpers at rear). Can a suspension guru talk about revalving options, doesn't get so much air time.

The black NA in my avatar has 200# Weltmeisters from Paragon. They lower the car as advertised, but that is a wonderful thing. Stock rear ride height adjustment at the lowest setting leveled the car just fine...runs daily with front OE 23.5 tubular sway and rear 19 mm M030 in the middle setting with KLA spherical bearing drop link. A bud of mine just brought it back from three days of DE at VIR (nice of me, huh?) and declared it to be the best handling car he had ever driven on street tires...was too wet for the Hoosiers.
Street ride is not as harsh as my 951S with 968 M030.

I've got a Paragon kit for sale w/ 200's - practically new if you're interested. One advantage of it is that the 2.5" ID springs are dirt cheap, so if you devide to change rate down the line it's cheaper.

I have the M030 Konis w/ 300# front springs and 28mm torsion bars. IMO, this is the perfect dual-purpose setup. Not too rough on the street (feels only slightly stiffer than stock M030), and w/ my Weltmeister bars it's awesome on the track.
I definitely wouldn't go w/ 200's, too close to stock to bother with.

Allright Ian!! I just did the 300# front springs with 28mm bar based on the reccomendation of CHuck at Paragon. I was later thinking maybe I should have gone to 29mm bars instead. I have yet to drive the car as I did all the suspension over the winter and Its still apart and have not yet driven it. Hopefully its not too stiff fot me on the street. DE should be fun though.

IM right there with Alpine 951, except I went for the 275lb springs up front and 28mm torsion bars. That setup is really only 150lbs up front and rear from stock specs. I made a post about this about a month back if you search for "Another suspension question." It might have a few more helpful hints. For what ive researched this is a pretty good setup, and with adjustable Koni's you can tune it in to your likeing.
Hope that helps a little
BTW, does anyone have any threaded collars w/ lower pearch that they might be intersted in selling for paragons ride height kit? I might be needing a set(2).

Since were talkin about suspension here, would anyone who is gonna be at hershey happen to have a set of front struts for a '86 951, preferably worn out ones. I need a set to do the conversion to rebuildable ones and set up my coilovers. If your gonna be at hershey it would leave out the whole shipping thing which woudl be good since they are so heavy.
Thanks
Mike
