help with lsd issues
Car is in neutral, I spin one of the wheels. I have LSD so the other one turns in the same direction. But if someone holds the other one while I turn, there is not a lot of resistance to my turning. LSD needs to be rebuilt?
Here is the real problem. Car in first gear, clutch not engaged. I turn either of the wheels, and the output shaft of the transmission doesnt even turn. It is pretty hard to turn the wheels at this point though, which makes me think I have been driving off of the friction created.
I did not know anything was wrong, I was trying to test my LSD when this happened.
What is broken?

Bust, I didnt get your message until now special tool.
My main question is why can I spin the rear wheels pretty easily with the car in gear and the clutch not engaged. The engine is supposed to be connected to the wheels at this point, but I can spin them. And the output shaft does not rotate.

Most lsd differentials use a cam to apply pressure to the clutch packs. You are feeling whatever the preload of the clutch packs is. When torque is applied to the ring gear, the caps (pressure plate) ride up the ramps of the cam and increase the pressure applied to the clutch packs. I am not 100% possitive that the ones in our cars work this way. I've rebuilt one made by Eaton that was configured in this like this.
