Replicas are not worth that much since they are heavy.

they are only about a pound heavier than the original Cup 1s, because of the extra offset, and they are made by the same company - with the wider stance though you get better cornering, and a much more aggressive look
Cup 2s are lighter than either one
these are immaculate - clean inside and out - no dings, road rash or anything - it is also a complete package including great tires with good tread and painted metal center caps

they are all MMs, including the originals - porsche had them make them for them - porsche makes very little themselves - the "replicas" are only heavier because of the extra offset, which meant an extra 1/2" of material, hence why they fill out the wheel wells better
53lbs is about right - if you check the tire rack site for tire weights and then check the wheel weight chart here, you will find that the "replicas" are only about a pound heavier than the "original" version
what shape were your rims in? painted center caps? S0-3s? maybe you sold them too cheaply
these are like new - not even any dirt on them

Mine were in triple-chrome with caps. They were in near perfect condition, caps, 8 months old and sold to a fellow Rennlister. Mine were for an 86 offset hence they had the built in spacers which probably added a pound or two. They were the MM 993 Cups, the Cup 1's might be a bit different. Your tires are better than the Kunho Ecsta's I had. Yeah I sold them cheaper than I should have but I already had the new CCW's and needed the space. I would think yours will sell somewhere in the middle of my price and yours. Good Luck with the sale.

since retail new on the package is 2 grand, i'm not too worried - i figured to get a lot of grief from some of the 944 guys though - if you're starting with a $5000 car, $1000 for wheels seem like a lot - on the other hand, with my car in the upper 20s and over 30k in mods, that's peanuts - the wheels being made for the car right now retail at nearly 6 grand and the tires alone are $1100
i guess it's all perspective - no worries

see, thats not right. If you pay 5k in mods and spend 25k in labor to instal it and still be slower than a 951 with a maf kit. Maybe that car is not worth even close to 20+. Its all prespective, especially when I would rather buy from a humble owner than an owner who is a full of himself.

that's not what i meant - i've been in that spot, and made similar decisions for the same reasons - what i meant was you have to look at what you are working with to determine what you are willing to spend on it - in the case of a $5000 car, it probably isn't logical to spend $1000 on tires and wheels unless you were really trying to do something special with that particular car
in my case, i didn't care what i spent on this particular project (by the way, it's a 968 cab show car)- i budgeted 60k for it and will likely sail past it - and not that much of it is on labor - doesn't matter - it's fun
as for it being slower, i guess that's relative - the car is pretty quick now on a road course, which is what it is set up for

yeah - not everybody would do this for sure - kind of just spun that way - the paint job was 8 grand - the seats are 3 - the tires and wheels are 6600 - it adds up in a hurry
i wasn't looking for a concours car in the end - i was looking to see what i could do with the car, and develop it to its potential in all areas - it just ended up that i am showing it because of how well it came out
a photo shoot is scheduled for the 23rd and then another about a week later for a cover

I was under the impression that the factory wheels were forged and the MM's were cast hence the weight difference. Offset has zero difference on weight - purely a geometry issue and has nothing to do with extra material - just where the center section mounts to the hoop. If the wheels were wider your material arguement might make sense. I paid $800 for a set of brand new MM twists with brand new BFGR1's (seller wrecked his car before he could mount them) and $1400 for a set of Fikse FM10's with 2 sets of scrubbed Hoosiers, so I would agree that $1,000 might be a bit optimistic - although the painted centers might count for some. Nothing to do with your $5,000 car theory, just free market value. If I can get the same thing for couple hundred less by being patient why would I buy yours?
