Coolant puddling in Oil Filter Location: Bad HG? NOOO!
I pulled off my oil filter and right under it is a puddle of coolant with some oil under it. Like a decent amount of coolant too. I would say two handfuls of it just chillin in there. Could that only mean one thing, my HG? I sure hope not. Is there anything else that could do it? Please? lol. If you need some pics let me know. The car has been sitting for a long time so that is why there are puddles like that. Thanks, Derek

? you said the coolant is right under the oil filter. Yes post a photo. My car had leaky oil cooler seals. When I was working on it I pulled off the filter and didnt get back to the car for a day or so. I found coolant had seeped into the oil filter chamber. I continued with the seal replacement and all is well.
Good thing, I doubt you HG is faulty.
Bad thing, the oil cooler seals are not fun to replace.

Same thing happened to my car like 3 days ago literally. My porsche mechanic said it was probably the oil cooler seals. Replace those before you replace a head gasket!

I trust you mean the coolant was inside the oil filter housing under the filter, and not just puddled up somewhere that you could not see before taking off the filter. If so, it probably is the seals, assuming you have no other signs of a bad HG. It's a bit of a messy job, but not the end of the world. The parts are cheap anyway.

Make sure its not something a bit more prosaic ... my car had a leaky coolant pipe which connects from the water pump to the cross-over pipe (which itself leads to the back of the engine ... heater valve?). This deposited coolant exactly where you describe.
