Shaheed: Where did you look at the 17" Fuchs that fit the '86? from the 911?? I was told that there would be fittiment issues due to the brake caliper clearance.

I am running the stock 951 Fuchs on my '86 from the factory, 16x7 in the front and 16x8 in the rear. I contacted wheel enhancement and they informed me that they could paint the wheels in any colour i wanted, also fully polish them (not just the lips) as well.

Hosrom - Shaheed didn't say he was looking at 17 inch Fuchs - 17 inch wheels, not Fuchs.
17 inch Fuchs were never made.
However, you can get them from HRE - they will make you some using original center.

I called HRE about this last year, and they told me that they would not fit over TurboS/S4 calipers, and that they *may* fit over standard 951 calipers with a 1/4" spacer. It is because they use a 6" 911 Fuch for the donor (911 fuchs don't have the backside of the petals carved out for brake clearage). This was enough to scare me off on the idea. I have no personal knowlege, just what I was told.

Obligatory photos of 930 16X9 fuchs on my car:

Shaheed, you could still just sell me your fuchs and take my C2 turbo knockoffs to use until you find what you want. Also there is a beautiful set of forgelines in the classifieds for $1600 that will fit '86.

Update to the forged wheels from the 88-'89 turbo S. I have the Fuchs on my '86 but I really like the club sport wheels too.

They certainly do! 2 years back I tried a set that did not fit that were supposedly 930 fuchs, but then I tried a real set last year and they did clear. I didn't take the time to get the part#'s off that first set so at this point I am doubting the validity of that claim.

So I looked forever for these and bought them back in december or January.

you can paint the fuchs, but you have to strip the anodizing properly or else the paint won't last. rob maybe we can still do that trade, as i told you before i like your wheels, just wish they weren't so heavy.

Tool: Got it, my mistake!!

What is the proper method of stripping the anodizing properly ? my fuchs are going to get painted in the next coming months, would be nice to know what to look out for.

search around, the subject has come up before. i've heard all kinds of things from oven cleaner to more caustic stuff like aircraft paint stripper.
