Brake Booster Problems--HELP!!

After installing a new engine my brake assist has almost died.
--all hoses have been inspected and replaced where necessary
--venturi replaced
--one way valve that hose connects to on the round black booster container works fine.
--plenty of vacuum at the hose that connects to that valve.
Is it possible that the booster is toast???---I have owned 6 951's--never heard of one going out--but there is always a first.
Any ideas appreciated.

You have checked all of the possible causes. Draw a vacuum with a gauge attached to confirm that that the booster diaphram does not hold boost. Alternately, remove the check valve at the booster and blow into it. That should confirm whether it holds vacuum.

Claus,
Very good suggestion---I pulled out the check valve right after driving the car---when removing it was evident that there was vacuum within the brake booster---the valve was also working properly.
Do you by chance know what sort of vacuum the booster should hold? I do have some brake boost---but well under where it should be.
Thank you very much,
Cyrus
