Hey;
Take the street tire advice. It is the best in this thread. The best you might ever get! The ES100 is cheap and will take a helluva beating. If money is no object, well, there are lots of expensive choices too.
Sliding is learning, sticking at this point is kidding yourself. You are not a hot shoe... yet. When you DO slide on Rs, you'll probably $hit your pants... or worse!
This from a PCA National Instructor & Instructor Mentor, in case you wondered... but what do I know?

Sliding on RA-1s... First time I did that was in the hogpen at VIR, and to tell the truth I didn't have an underwear incident but thought "Hey, theses *are* progressive!"... The fact that the hogpen has a 110% pucker factor for me may have helped :-) Did it a couple more times before I figured out how to run the corner.

If you're planning on rain performance, don't get the Yokahamas; the ES100 and the AVS Sport use some teflon in their compound, and they pretty much suck in the rain (auto-x experience talking). IMO, Bridgestone has rain compounds much better figured out. The Toyos seem to be very good in the rain, but I think it's more of a top-dollar street tire, and since you're just going to wear them out lapping anyway you may want to get something a bit less expensive.

I've used the RA1s in the past and really liked them. They were fine driving to/from the track, and very predictable on the track. I'm now trying the new Falkien RT615, which is the replacement for the Azenis Sport. I'm still using the Sports on the front, since the size is not yet available in the RT615, but have the 275/40-17 RT615 in the rear, and they seem to have great dry traction so far. Falken claims they hold up much better on the track than the older Sports, but I can't confirm that.
(btw, I have a set of 17" RA1s for sale - 235/40s and 255/40s).
