Update. I did a little digging around an I found my spare ape stage 2 dme and klr chip. I will be trying them out this weekend. Thanks anyway Evil.

Well.....

Since the KLR is also listening for detonation (knock/ping), and since you do not "hit the wall" until you turn up the boost, the KLR could be sensing detonation and retartding spark advance.

Truth be told you really don't need a klr chip if the cv is bypassed. So John is correct.

Now if someone could bypass the klr with a piggyback that can retard timing through pin 21 and 32 on the dme. They can run very aggressive timing in the dme chip and have complete control of timing. Without a stand alone. Granted you can only retard the timing but if it's advanced highly in the dme chip. You have complete control. This would be a good upgrade. Remove the klr and fab a plate in it's place for the piggy back and wideband. You will be in complete stealth mode and free up the glove box.

What about knock control? I think thats a pretty important feature of motronic.
