Default Failed GA Emissions

But I was close. Failed on CO% on the slower test. I just installed the Fabspeed racing cat and made sure to get everything nice and warm before heading to the inspection station. The car is pretty heavily modified: t04/8s, MBC, 993tt bov, 55# injectors, Uego wideband sensor and display, Fabspeed 3" exhaust, Lindsey dual-port wastegate, Lindsey MAFterburner, Vitesse chips, adjustable FPR, new 8mm wires, Bosch cap & rotor, MSD coil, most vacuum hoses replaced (last couple as soon as Laust's manifold arrives), top-end rework including valves, guides and seats.

25mph, 2nd gear, ~2500rpm
HC 86/162 pass
CO% 1.04/1.04 pass (barely)
NOx 974/1163 pass

15mph, 1st gear, ~2500rpm
HC 83/167 pass
CO% 1.13/0.94 FAIL
NOx 499/1273 pass

Any suggestions?

That's what I figured, just wasn't sure which way to go with CO, rich or lean. Thanks!

I wish we had emissions test in Augusta, to many crapper cars blowing smoke all over the damn place. Agrivating as hell.

Also - you are, at best, losing a little bit of spark energy using that coil without the amp. That coil is designed to recieve 480 volts from the box, not 12 volts from the weak-*** Bosch DME.
Fact, not fiction.

Are ya sure about that ??? I have used the blaster coil on my old 924 as well as the turbo. I always thought it was a direct replacemnt and could also be used with the MSD ignition. I've done both and saw no diff .
Should I put the bosch coil back in ???

Wilson - Yes. The bosch will give you better spark with all stock parts.
The MSD puts out 480 volts to any blaster coil.
You are using a coil that is designed to get 480 volts.

interesting, I may have to slap the bosch coil back in tomorrow (if its not raining)
I put in the MSD just because I had it on the shelf back when I just bought the car.
After all my PM and mods I still have a little bit of roughness in the idle. Seems
electrical in nature. Maybe a stock coil will smooth it out.
