Default use loctite on aftermarket head studs or not?

Raceware, states in CAPS not to use loctite.
ARP and OEM states to use loctite, but try to torque the head down prior to loctite fully curing.

What's the reason why you would not use loctite on studs going in the block?

I called Raceware last week and was told to use teflon pipe sealer, but no loctite. He said the teflon is used merely to keep the stud from turning when the nut is torqued. He said they recommend against loctite because of the hassles of removing them when glued in there.

hmm.. thanks.

Doesn't Raceware have a million mile no replacement guarantee or something like that? If they are reusable why would they be concerned about the hassle of removing them again.

You may want to remove the studs to resurface the deck at some point in the future. Stud removal is frequently fatal to the fastener.

A compromise option is to study the loctite catalog for a mid level loctite. They make them with several degrees of lock. The most permanent of the thread lock compounds is very difficult to remove and would probably require heating the block to get it broken. The mid grades provide good lock on a clean thread without being damn near impossible to remove.

I guess the other half of the question is: as long as the studs don't turn in the block, what benefit is loctite?
