Default Magnecor plug wires

I was thinking of some R-100 plug wires. Any good experiences?

No reason to run those over their plain KV-85, you're just paying more, our cars don't use that little edge in performance. If you want to pay for bling, then they're great wires.

I believe those only have a thicker insulation jacket so if you don't need that why bother. And good luck finding some standard loom holders that won't pinch the jacket too bad.

That's true - the 85's are a tight fit as it is.

Hey Special,
I change my stock wires to Magnecors, no
performance diff. Runs the same as stock
wires with my MSD set up.

I changed my !!!16!!! year old wires with the Magnecor 85, put in MSD, Blaster2 coil, new rotor and cap. And I'm sure the rotor and cap were original as I've had the car since '91. It only had 42,000 miles, though.

I'll be damned if I can tell any real difference.

the upgrade.

I used blue Magnacor wire bought by the foot, and plugged it into my stock boots. The 8.5 mm thickness was a tight fit in the old (but still perfectly serviceable) boots, and also tight fit in the looms. But, it works, and the ~$1/foot price was by far the best option for replacing the old wires.

If I had to do it again, I'd probably go with 8 mm wire.

I used custom R-100's on the Callaway turbo and they worked out great. No looms available though so I ended up making seperators out of zipties. I chose Magnecor for their excellent EMI supression due to having the TEC unit in the engine bay. I have their KV85's on my NA and they are great wires. Granted I did notice a performance gain in the NA, but due the fact the orig wires were arcing all over the place (quite the light show when it was dark out) so bad I had to gap my plugs waaaaay down to make the car even start so I could limp home. The conductor wire for both models is exactly the same, just the insulation is thicker. And IIRC they only come in red when pre-made.
