Default Should I pull the engine?

This is my engine as it sits right now.

What I cant decide is if it would be SIGNIFICANTLY faster to pull the engine and reinstall everything on it that way. Is there anything that cant be installed with the engine out of the car and then lowered in? All thats left is the power steering, motor mounts, torque tube/bell housing, and oil cooler. And the oil cooler is getting disconnected anyway tomorrow, and there still the clutch job to do...

Would pulling the engine and installing everything that way save me a bunch of hours? To make it worth it?

If you are not planning to do the clutch, I'd say it's faster to re-install the parts in the car than to pull the motor. There are just a few bits removed there -- a mere flesh wound. If you are doing the clutch too....I wouldn't even hazard a guess...

I would pull it and do the rod bearings/oil pan gasket and any other PITA maintenence that you are not sure when it was last done (if you haven't already exceeded your budget).

That engine looks like it wants to come out...

Calling the bank later today, if thats enough of a hint

Its on its third oil pan gasket now, but original rod bearings.

I noticed you said 'lower it in'.
If you want to install it complete, the best method is from the bottom. That lets you install the crossover pipe and such before the install, and have it mounted on the crossmember. Makes the install a lot easier.

If you're doing a clutch, then pull it, same goes for rod bearings.
Are you changing motor mounts as well?

I took my engine out the top with the crossover still attached, same with the install.

Yes to motor mounts, LR Supermounts prolly.

Edit: Ill have to decide on the rod bearings, and pulling the engine for that matter.

Out the top WITH the crossover attached? Wow. Mine wouldn't fit out like that. We tried, and it would bind about half-way up.
I suppose if it was about 1/4" narrower it would have fit, and my crossover was pretty beat up?...
Oh well.
I stand by my statement that it is FAR easier to go in from the bottom.
