Posted by J chen: What if you're using larger injectors ? Would that mean a custom chip ?

No. When you size a maf meter to the injectors used the timing table spreads out evenly. Timing will be very close.

Hi Jimbo,
Forgive my ignorance. Can you kindly elaborate further.
Use my Huntley Stage III maf running with
72 lbs injectors & 3 bar FPR as an example.

Thank you

The stock afm is sized for stock injectors. Once you install 55 lb injectors you over fuel by 37% in each cell. If you install a maf meter that adds 37% more air at the same voltage you equalize the timing. Because both input (maf) and output( fuel) were both increased evenly. Im not sure if the stage 3 HR meter was calibrated for 72lb injectors. It could have bin calibrated to 55lb injectors. You can verify by sending it to pro m to be recalibrated to 72lb injectors to be safe. Thats why I'm still use APE stage 2 chips for afm. Get it?

Oh Jimbo, forgot to ask you. Once the MAF is recalibrated
to run on 72lbs injectors, can the stock chip be used to
massage the signal or is there still a need for an aftermarket
chip like Huntley, APE etc

Thanks again

You can use a stock dme chip. But the klr chip will have to be replaced when running over stock boost levels.

Thanks Jimbo. Contrary to what has been posted,
how do you know that timing is not compromise
when massaging the signal ?

To further answer the question about using a MAF with a 944 DME (turbo or whatever):

A custom EPROM chip could be developed (if not already) to utilize its' 0-5 volt
input to the A/D converter (within the DME) and re-map both the ignition and
fuel maps. NO external circuitry is required nor would the 944 DME have to have
it's circuitry modified. That's the proper way to do it! No Mickey Mouse voltage translations.

No, I know you. I have read your silly stuff before.
I am just telling you, this isn't the Boxster (should I get a green or orange cupholder) forum, and it sure as hell isn't the 930 (can I get 500 RWHP with CIS and fool enrichment) forum.
They will flame your butt out of here fast for saying that silly stuff here.

And that last post proves that you have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
"Properly" installing a MAF on a 944 involves changes to the transfer function.

You are not in the 356 forum, either.

Come on now, I know it's hard for you, but just address the issue & let's not do
personal attacks. Are you capable of that?

Another one who hides on the forum without a real identity and makes slams.
