I believe the difference is not necessarily between turbo and non-turbo models (spring rates for the two ARE different but the struts are the same AFAIK) but between early & late cars. On the later cars, there is an 18mm clearance between the sides of the "U" connection whereas on the early cars, 20mm is required. Therefore if you have an early car and want to transplant later-style struts or coil-overs (such as I want to) into it, you'll need to have 1mm of clearance machined out of the U-groove on either side. To transplant early-style struts into a later car, you will need a 1mm shim on either side. Other than that, I believe it's a direct bolt-in replacement.

One more question. What is the "U" connection?...Is this were the strut meets with the spindle
or is this were the strut bolts to the chassis?
