SFR Stg II headers

SFR Stg II headers
I suppose I should introduce myself and give a little background info before I start asking questions. I recently, 1 week ago, just purchased a 1987 951 with the intent of making it into a weekend/track car. Prior to the 951, I owned a 1997 E36 M3 and although it was a great car it just lacked the power I wanted. So in staying with German tradition and after doing a lot of research, I purchased the 951. Now, back to my original question. The car already has the Lindsey Racing 340 rwhp kit, full suspension with 26-way adjustable coilovers with resevoirs, and 17X9.5F and 17X10.5R CCW's. I did a search on the SFR Stg II headers and found that their power is only truly realized on heavily modded cars and that on cars with light mods, the power gains are minimal. So my question to the all knowledgable rennlist community is will I be better off purchasing the stg I or II headers for my car? Thanks and I plan on beinging a contributing member to this forum and community. Also, here are a couple quick pics of the newly acquired car. Plans for the near future are an autopower rollbar, corbaeu seats with 5-point harness, 968 mirrors, handles, and rear hatch, AIR splitter, and a Stg II intercooler from Lindsey.

Welcome Ben. As you stated before, the stage two headers are just part of a package. If you just put them in with everything else being stock, you probably won't see a huge difference.
But once, you optimize the breathing capabilities of your 2.5L(Head, intake, intercooler, wastegate, turbo,BOV,chips, boost controller, rods,RPM's,exaust, headers) then you will gain quite a bit....just look at my numbers .....

Welcome to the list!
While lookng at the SFR headers, have a look at the IC they make as well! Huge temp drops and low pressure drop. If you are buying the 968 parts new, go to Jeff at Sunset parts. They sell around cost price on OEM parts!
PS the SFR headers look the shizzle! They were dyno'ed on the project 951 exhaust section of European Autocar Mag. Check it out.

Alright, Thanks for all of the info guys. I decided to go with the stg II headers. I talked to Tim over at SFR and he said that with a good tune I should see some very nice gains so I cannot wait.

The SFR Stage 2 Headers are sweet, and no doubt a work of art. That can't be taken away from Tim. And having European Mag test them on that lightly modified 2.5L just attests to it's "quantifiable data" - as some would ask for.
Just imagine what his Stage 2 Headers would do on a 3.0L!

Yeah Tim is great for service and provides data where many others dont. He is to be commended. You certainly dont hear of fitment issues with his exaust work either!
