I have the mate to that drop link It snapped just driving to Mt Tremblant the day before a DE. I had to find a local shop that could mig it up. It worked great up to the point the swabar brackets snapped off at the mounting bolts After 14 years, 117,000 miles and an upgrade to 968 M030 bars it was too much for them. I had planned to triangulate the mounts that winter but never got around too it. On inspection the other mount had a crack about half way through. I will try and post some pics tomorrow.

So, when you replace those bushings I would advise taking the extra time and pull the four 8M bolts that hold the mounts to the body and inspect between the holes for cracks. Replace ments were about $9 if memory servers me correctly.

Does anyone have a picture of a triagulated bracket? I don't think the bolts are special in anyway -- $9 must be a dealer price...

Ok, lets see if I can find the old order form.......
  1. Suspension for M030 Sway Bar 968 (drop link/bar end)
    2 944.343.733.31 @$9.00 /ea
  2. Bushing Clamp
    2 944.343.73.02 @$8.20/ea
  3. Bushing Holder, Swabar L
    2 951.434.075.00 @39.20/ea
  4. Fr. Sway Bar Support Kit 944/968
    1 KLA.944.016 @$24.00/ea

Looks like I attributed it to the wrong part. The L bracket was $39. Not bad for a slab of steel. I supprised no one has a upgraded part at half the price.

I was going to make my own triangulating bracket, even had the materials < $6 but in the end went the easy route and added it to the basket. The bracket is just sheet of steel with 45degree bends at either end and holes for the clamp mounting bolts on one end and a large oval hole on the other where it mounts to the cross member bolt. KLA Support @ Paragon

I got these through Paragon.

Wish I knew how I loaded things up enough to bend the drop link bolt with all that rubber around it. I did hit a monster pothole in Chicago 7 years ago. Hard enough to deflate the rear tire and bend the rim.

The torque spec on the drop link lock nut is only 18 ft. lbs. (17 for steel control arms). If that nut was overtightened too, then it may have bent because it was clamped down too tight to move with the suspenion.
