Not true. Some of the 944 guys are catching on. Tim from sfr sells a similar turbo now. Also LR has the super series. There using a 61mm based wheel. I'm not sure if Johns turbo's are similar but there performance is very good. I'm not sure that they configure them the same way that I did but with the help of there distributors I'm sure that they are pretty close. Or will be soon.

Yes Jimbo but they are vendors & they can get
whoever they are dealing with to machine the parts.
I'm just an enthusiast who likes to learn & experiment.

Read the guys comment and tell me you still think its a good turbo for him

I get your point NZ but some Kokeln turbos are housed in a #6 housing with a stage 5 wheel. In this case spoolup would be better than a stage 3 in a #8 housing. He just has to know witch housing he is getting.

Do you have accurate test data, or just what "you think"???

Stage 5 in #6 housing would create a lot of backpressure, it wouldn't spool faster than the stage 3 #8 it would more/less spool the same and probably wouldn't handle future upgrades

I doubt that they use a #6 hotside but can't say for sure, i know they use the #8 for their stage 5 for sure though.

John when a housing is change to a smaller one velocity increases. The #8 housing with a stage 3 wheel will be very close to a #6 housing stage 5 wheel. The velocity increase of the #6 housing will propel the turbine quicker giving it a slight edge over the #8 even when a smaller wheel is used in the #8. If you do not agree that's fine. This is my experience thanks.

Yes, that's true, and you will most likely get an earlier spoolup. But, the smaller housing will choke earlier, and backpressure would increase drastically once the smaller housing hits it's flow limit. In which case power will drop off harsh.

I'm assuming that's what John's getting at...

I agree rage2. The original question was about spoolup. That why I didn't coment on top end flow.

Jimbo, have you actually tested #6 with Stage 5 against a #8 with stage 3.. Or is it just "theory"????
Do you have actual experience?
If you have actual experience, not just theory, why would someone use a Stage 5 in a #6?

Since your always asking the questions. Why don't you give us some answers?
Or is it a fact that people sound smarter when they don't say much.

I'm not the one tossing opinions on this thread, you are. I guess your response (or lack of one) answered my questions and confirmed my opinion... Some people do sound smarter when they don't say much, so is that why you are not responding??? Also, some people, the more they talk the less smart they sound!

Why do you enter a thread and try to discredit the participants and not offer no reason for doing so.

That's why I believe tuners shouldn't respond to rennlist members threads. There should be a tuners forum so if we would like to hear you opinion we will look for you there.

Jimbo, no one is trying to discredit you, not needed!!! I just asked a question to see if you are making statements based on experience or if you are just talking.... I asked a question as a member. No need to get so deffensive!! Why not answer the question?

I'm at fault here for one reason: based on the source of the informations in question, I should have known better not to question the validity, as the answer is very obvious..

The floor is all yours, you got everyone's attention, make all the statements you want, I promise not to question you any more!

Enjoy the weekend!
