There is a rennlister who has a very nice duct on the passenger side hood behind the p/s reservoir which looked like a more radical solution.

I knew that, I do know the difference between a 968 and a 951. What I was saying is that with a MAF kit you can't put a duct on the driver side it is filled to the rim with stuffs from the front of the bonnet to the rear of the bonnet, there would be a few mm spare in height room.

Thank you edge for hosting the pics.
This is the smaller size vent from carbontrix. I just recently replaced the stock IC pipes and will probably now fab up some ducting that goes from the IC to the vent. Someone asked about installing the vents. I made a template out of cardboard, taped it to the hood and then used a roto zip tool to cut it out. Between this vent, and the other two painted white, I was trying to remove both air and heat from under the hood. Please note, this is a fiberglass hood that is pinned. I have no latching mechanism in the way.
On a final note, I have a buddy that I race with that has a 951(racecar) and he liked my vent but decided to go with the larger one. I think I will eventually replace mine with the larger one. I like it better.

The flow test would actually be very easy to do, namely by taping a few strips of thin paper just below the windshield and see where they point while driving.

I wanted to remove as much heat as possible from the engine compartment so I removed the entire firewall down to the passenger compartment enclosure. I then conducted tuft tests by taping 3" long strings, 3" apart along the top rear of the hood, under the rear of the hood and on the windshield opposite the hood trailing edge.
I found that tufts along the center 18" were sucked into the engine compartment. Outboard of that, they aimed toward the side and finally upward near the ends of the opening.
I added a 24" wide black ABS plastic hood extension that rests on the windshield. Now that I have a VOM with temperature sensor, I'll check exit temps to followup on heat removal.

"What I was saying is that with a MAF kit you can't put a duct on the driver side it is filled to the

I had always wanted to do a small raised scoop that fit right over the MAF/intake on the driver's side.
I.e. the MAF would actually be slighty raised and the hood would close around it, fitting snuggly into the rounded scoop/intake.
I guess much like the 924GT, but slightly rounded.

Anyone with resources want to look into making an extractor duct like the 968 turbo rs???
Please
Carbon fiber or fiberglass wouldnt be too expensive to do. I would cut my hood for one of those.

If anyone is serious about getting one and paying for it, I have a friend that owns a fiberglass company. Could do it out of fiberglass or CF.
Would cost a lot for just 1 or 2, but if enough interest, would be a lot cheaper. I would guess from what he has quoted beofre on things like this, about $250-300. Cost is in the mold.

NZ: You right on. Which is why in other CF parts threads not much has come of it unless someone is willing to front the cash to get the parts going and mold made.
But to be honest, if you have a detailed, color picture, he can make it exactly like. I mean he makes all kinds of fiberglass pieces for Disney, Universal and a lot of simulators for Lockheed Gruman, etc.
Like I said, if anyone is really serious, I can take him a color picture and he can give a quote.
