I bought but have not yet installed a carbon fiber piece by carbotrix. I goes in the same location as the 968 piece but the cut out has to be made to adjust to the hood center support. It should look right at home with OEM charcoal color.

I have one one of these mounted in the hood of my track car. I can email a couple large size pics if someone can host them.

I remember a rennlister did this but only to the passenger side of the hood, can't remember his name though.
You can't do it on the turbo side because there is simply no room.

Kevin,
If there are any underhood pics, please let us know. I have a spare hood, and would love to see how you made this change.

Thanks,
Jon

Maybe my solution to getting more cooling airflow across the engine is too simple for you guys, but when on the track I just remove the weather strip on the firewall and for good measure remove the wipers as well.
That creates an opening of 54”x 1/2” or 27 sq in, which cools the intake manifold very well. In the process the net movement of air is upward, providing some down-force.

Laust,
I haven't tested it on my car, but on many cars the intersection of the windshield and the hood is actually a high pressure area. If this is the case on our cars, your solution may not be a solution. The front of the hood is really the ideal location for the vent, as this is a point of very low pressure.

J,
I have not done any formal testing either, but have noticed that the hood has a small spoiler lip just in front of the windshield. Also at one time driving with the wipers installed and weather strip removed the wipers were “dancing impatiently” on the windshield.
The flow test would actually be very easy to do, namely by taping a few strips of thin paper just below the windshield and see where they point while driving.

hmd: That pic i used was just an illustration.

There is a rennlister who has a very nice duct on the passenger side hood behind the p/s reservoir which looked like a more radical solution.

Or just drive with the hood open but still latched.

A bunch of air would flow through the engine bay and right out the back at the windshield
