Default Fuel rail question

I am trying to purge the gas out of the fuel line. The nut on the end of the rail
the one in the front of the rail wont come off I am afraid to really push it
Are these normal turning nuts rt tight left loosen ?
I sprayed some PB blaster on it ..
I was thinking of taking a torch to it but then thought better of it
I just kidding
Anyway if I dont get some words of advice I may just remove it by the fuel lines
with some rags underneath it
TIA
Ed

Yeah mine came off easy enough wen I put the VDO gauge in... why not just pul the DME and crank it for a few seconds? That will get the fuel out.

Just leave it! You dont need to undo it to take the rail off... just do the DME trick or pull the rail and put a rag down to soak any left over fuel.

Eddie - did you undo the short hose between the damper and the rail?
If you did, you HAVE to replace it, or your car will burn.
Not kidding this time.

The procedure to remove the rail is:
-remove 2 bolts from cam carrier and 2 bolts from maniflod
-pull 3 & 4 plug wire through damper
-remove vac from regulator and damper
-pull upward on rail to remove injectors from mainfold
-tie temporarily out of way
-NOTHING ELSE

Sorry for double post - no coffee again

Thanks Jim
Actually I was getting a little to **** about spilling the fuel. If I was able to pull the nut off the rail in the front, the fuel would have emptied out of the rail much cleaner. Instead I pulled the rail without the
injectors... I pulled like a mother but it wouldn't come out and I was afraid to break something ...
So I pulled the rail w/o the injectors... Manifold today
PS thanks for the suggestion on the hose replacement
Edit
I didn't pull that hose. Tom Mc Ginn's suggested not to pull it (no need to ) It
stays attached to the rail

Inspect it very carefully - its likely that its still cracked. I probably would just go ahead and replace now it if its not the updated style. Even if it isn't cracked now, it probably will be sooner or later, and you've already got the rail off the car.
