Enlighten me... what is the purpose of this sticker? Does Australia force Porsche owners to pay some sort of special tax/levy?

Matt,

Every country makes you pay a POL.

Gotcha.

Solution: Work on it yourself!

So you pay the same labour rates at your Porsche dealership as you would at your Toyota dealership?

I know what you mean now. That's like when I carry in my wheels and mail-order tires to Discount Tire (they complain about ordering Toyo RA-1's, so I mail-order them). The first time I did it, they tried to tell me that it would cost $10 extra per wheel because "Porsches wheels are so expensive, if they messed one up on the machine, they would have to buy another". I didn't have the heart to tell them that I paid less for the wheels than I just did for new RA-1's.

I went to another location and they charged normal rates...

Pretty much. Expect to see anywhere from $70 to $100 labor rate for Toyota, Acura, VW, Porsche, Benz, Ford...etc.

Highway robbery, I say.

hmd, as a fellow Aussie (I'm in WA) I have to ask, what do you pay per hour of labour?
