Default Aluminum expansion tank

I was looking at Lindsey's site today and noticed that they had an aluminum expansion tank. I was wondering if theres any advantage to using one of these over the stock unit besides looks? My turbo water pump went out and my expansion tank is all orange now and I cant even see the coolant level so I was thinking I might as well replace them both. I noticed that the LR al tank has a clear tube to see the fluid level which is pretty neat and I wouldn't have to worry about it fading again. So should I go with the aluminum one or just the regular stock piece?

It MIGHT disipate heat a little more, but I would say mostly for looks.

they sell it cause its designed to fit their big maf setup you cant fit with the stock expansion tank. its really your choice. I was debating between the two, but ended up just getting a stock replacment from the dealer since the I could not justify the extra cost of the alum one.

Totally looks, fitment, durability - no performance difference.

I was debating the same thing a few months ago... I ended up getting a stock one, cleans up the engine bay having a white tank in there! I decided against the metal one as you cant tell the water level, I couldnt see a sight glass or anything on it, so I passed.

I remember looking at that a few months ago too - I wondered how it would work with no way to tell what your coolant level was. . . Apparently they've addressed it though. What's that sighting material made of? If it's plastic how will it not discolor just like the stock reservoir? I suppose it could be glass, but that'd be awfully expensive. . . Just curious. I'll probably stick with stock. It's got to be lighter too.

Looks is all your going to get from that. It does look nice though. It all depends if you want to spend the extra money.

Holy cow it's $350. Looks well made but I could not justify $350 on it. I didnt recall it being that expensive, the addition of the sight glass has probably increased the cost a bit.

I was thinking about spraying mine white with high temp engine paint, and masking off an area so I could still see what the level was. I'm not sure how the paint will adhere to the plastic though.

Durability? Mine is going on 19 years. I think I got my monies worth out of it. I only wish I knew how much coolant was in it...
