Yea I think I'll do it assuming I can find someplace to paint it to match my car. . . What do you want for the vented header?

Don't forget, I have a vented header for your other car still.

Yea, at some point we still have to get together about that! Any spider webs on it yet?

The ones for the 951 and 944 n/a are different though, so I figure this is a good way to get the 951 some "ventlier" action too. Maybe one of these weekends coming up we can get together and I can pick that bad boy up. . . I'll probably be hosting a t-belt party for the 951 in a few weeks so if you feel like doing it then or whatever, that's fine. . .

Jeff,

I tested the vented header panel (931 vents) and I found a 2HP gain IIRC (based on temperature drop). So it does work!

Sweet! I even have a spare intercooler scoop I can "modify" in order to take advantage of it. Nice. I'm sold on the idea now. I actually like the look of the 931 vents more than the one in the pic (the four small vents look more elegant than the two large ones, IMO) but I think it works aesthetically. The most hideous ones are either those headlight scoops or the header panels with the one giant maw in them - they totally destroy the lines of the front. Again, this is mostly my opinion and I may even end up cutting and modifying that header to accommodate the 931 vents from that second header panel I'll be picking up at some point (the one Joe mentioned) if I feel it's too ugly. I've studied the picture carefully though and think it actually looks pretty decent. FWIW though Andy, the cleanest looking 951 header I've seen is yours.

Dont mention the name of that company with the one big scoop in their panel! But I agree as do most people about the lines being ruined. Thanks for the compliment Jeff, I posted two threads a few weeks ago. One with the dimensions of the vents and another with temp change data You may want to look it up if you go to the 931 style as I believe its the only accurate reference for fitting the vents to a 951 header panel.

Yea, I kind of side-stepped around that one - in case you didn't notice. . .

Anyway, I'm a big fan of the 931 header - I really think it works well with the 951 nose since it doesn't make it so "horizontal". The only concern I have with the one here is when you look at the straight-on picture of the front of the car, there are too many horizontal lines. The 931 header (with its three verticals in between the vents) does a LOT to break this up and articulate the front in a sensible manner. I'll still get this one and see how it works with the two vents, but if it looks like ***, I'm ripping it off and figuring out a way to adapt the vent pieces from my current 931 header to it (even if it means doing some cutting & tack-welding). I think it'll work but I'm a bit **** about my aesthetic choices, if you haven't already figured that one out too. . .

he he he yes I did notice the side step, kinda like the name of the Scottish play we shall not mention... am I being too cryptic there? Hmmmm

Oh you already have the 931 panel? dude! Just cut the whole vent section out of the 931 panel and weld it in the 951 panel! I wish I had done that, its a much easier route.

You know, I probably could do that. I have one n/a 931 panel now and the other one I'm getting from Joe at some point. I'm a complete amateur when it comes to welding though; I'm afraid I'd burn right through the thing, although that's a pretty good idea - I might just have to find someone that's not a complete welding hack (like myself) to do it. . .

BTW really sorry for the hijack Lart, but you know I am a bit of an a$$

Just take it a shop or mate, its a very simple cut and weld and prep and paint job then, MUCH easier than making each tab and cavity for the vents! Stil would cost a couple of hundred to do though. But well, its worth it IMO.

When the seller say rough, you can be pretty sure it's a parts car. Anything below excellent is usually a parts car IMO.

Wait until you've had some time to look it over before making a decision. Is that a MAF on it too?

I call dibs on the wheels if you end up wanting to get rid of them!
