Anyone see a good price on a new "late style" water pump? Finally got mine off, quite the ordeal, only to find the core is dead. The bearings got so bad the impeller chewed down into the casting, no wonder it stopped turning. thanks

I bought mine through Zims, new for approximately $200, maybe a little more. THey also sell a 'kit' that includes all the gaskets and hardware you will need to accomplish this job. Have you thought about doing the oil cooler housing seals as well? Pretty easy to get at without the WP in the way.

I recently picked up a rebuilt WP on eBay for $80 with no core charge -- worth a look.
I've gone Zims in the past, but they require a $100 core charge.

I'll second the warning from Luis. Bought a rebuilt unit from Automotion (before they were bought by Performance Products), who at the time were one of the most reputable aftermarket parts suppliers.
After my mechanic installed the pump, the car would overheat while driving. Turns out the impeller would spin on the shaft under load (it's a press-fit). Had to pay again to have the pump replaced. Since then I'll only buy new.
Might want to check w/ Ian at 944online. They have really good pricing on most factory parts.

I had a factory rebuilt pump go bad in less than 3k miles. Some people have had good luck with them though. The dealer told me it was rare to get one back. I bought a new aftermarket pump.

I put great faith in rebuilt water pumps, but as is already obvious many others don't.
The argument was not for new vs rebuilt, but rather cheapest new price.
I second Zims. They are usually the cheapest for things like this.
