Default 3.0 FPR with exhaust?

I have heard that you should buy the 3.0 bar FPR when buying a full 3'' exhaust, because you need more fuel. Why do you need more fuel with an exhaust, does it cause for your boost to rise?

Thanks guys,

Jared

Yes, moving to a larger exhaust can raise boost. But to say that you need a 3 bar FPR becuase of an exhuast is non-sense. What you need is fuel mapped to the boost you are running, regardless. A 3 bar FPR is a cheap way to increase fuel when your stock injectors run out of duty cycle. But simply adding a 3 bar FPR will not fix your tuning issues... If you get to the point where you need to raise fuel pressure becuase injectors are maxing out, then you need bigger injectors.

Ok great thanks, I was told by somebody that I would need that 3.0 bar FPR. But I really don't intend on raising the boost that much. So when I get an exhaust I will just have my a/f ratios tuned properly.

You will need your chips remapped if you get the exhaust. Guru racing or Vitesse are two most popular choices. The stock injectors are generally accepted to max out around 285-295HP. SFR do some very nice exuast work! Top quality, not the cheapest (but close) but you get stainless steel and I have not heard of any fitment issues with his stuff www.speedforceracing.com. Tim (SFR) posts here and is very helpful.
