Yeah those ally ones LR sells are a dicey choice... I have heard a lot of bad stories about them and the need for frequent resurfacing and warping under race temp conditions etc. I did a pretty complete search before deciding to lighten the stock one. How much are you looking at to get it down to 10ish lbs?

well, no. seeing as everyone is running around with 8 or 9, 8 or 9 would be good. if it's gonna be $$$ forget 10lbs, not worth 300AUD or whatever for 1lb (it's around 10.5-11 atm i think).

i don't know. i'm getting performance9 (through autoart) to do it for me, and they have a shop that they deal with (all in melb).

he sure did. he raced it in the classic adelaide, but apparently ran into mechanical problems. i believe he totally rebuilt the car though, so hopefully not anything that was wrong with it when i sold it to him.

My shaved factory flywheel also weighed in at the 8.5~9 lb range as well. There is no need for a CNC machine for this either....Mine was done by a friend on a standard lathe.

I had a stock one and a lightened one on my workbench last week. Weight of stock one was 15.4 lbs. Weight of lightened one with the TDC sensor pins removed was 11 lbs.

Facboy:

Here is just another option for a stock lightented fly. This is offered by Lindsey Racing. See below:

"Remanfactured Steel Flywheels that are ready to install. When replacing your clutch, to do it correctly, you should replace your flywheel with a new one or have the friction surface ground. This however can be a inconvenience. Remove your clutch and flywheel, then find someone who can surface it and work within your time table can be a hassel.

As a new product for us, and a convienece for our customers, Lindsey Racing now has both stock steel flywheels that are just surface ground, or lightened stock steel flywheels that are also ground and ready to go.

Our lightened steel flywheels average 8.25 pounds. The stock flywheel weighs 14.75 pounds."

Hey Guys,
I use a Fidanza flywheel with Spec clutch kit. I works
o.k but I would recommend using a stock lightened
flywheel. For street use, 6 lbs is actually too light.
8-10 lbs should be a good compromise. Oh, for
balancing, try to drill on or as close to the area that
was used to balance the original flywheel.

I haven't used it on my personal car, yet. But, I have two friends that have it theirs; and we all like it very much. Both of them are making 400+ RWHP too. All 3 of us have the Spec 3 clutch with the Spec standard light weight PP. We all like the feel of the clutch too.

Hope that helps.
