Question for those with LR 3" Exhaust
#17
I got one of the early ones, and I can't imagine I had 45 minutes into installing it with my car up on jacks stands, crawling around underneath and using hand tools. It fit as good as the stock unit I replaced it with.
I keep hearing folks talk about how it didn't fit, was hard to install, etc... I am really wondering what the heck you guys are doing. No flames intended on your mechanical skills, but seriously, this was a no brainer and the later exhaust systems I have seen Lindsey produce look like the early one I installed. 9Fifty1, yours sounds like the exception if the bracket was welded on upside down, and thats kinda lame that it didn't get caught when they were making it, but I wasn't there when they made it, so I guess I will let them explain that one, if they want to.
Before flaming a manufacturer over something like this, please make sure you aren't just overlooking something in your approach during the installation. A lot of the time, if I am struggling with a project on my Porsches, I just put the tools down, take a break, approach it with a clear perspective later, and most of the time, I wind up chastising myself for being stupid in trying to force it the wrong way before.
Regards,

I wonder why we dont hear such common complaints about the other vendors exhausts. If it was a fitment skills issue, then it would be more constant... you would suspect.

Lindsey's exhaust is the only one that comes in so many pieces and has so many connections - it requires the most common sense of all the exhausts.

Sam,
The problem with common sense is that it's not so common
I forget who said that.
I wonder why they would have so many pieces to the system, I am in the process or buying one from SFR, seems idiot proof!

You can't swap the SFR muffler without cutting and rewelding, whereas you can with the LR - it's handy for those of us who do track days. That's the main difference.

Gees, that looks like a Frankenstein muffler with smallpox (reference to Asarus’ picture).
Is that made internally by LR? It must cost more to make than buying other aftermarket stainless mufflers costing less than $100, some of which have very good flow and attenuates reasonably well.
Although not the cheapest or prettiest, this “aero-turbine” muffler looks very interesting.

Yeah im actually witness to that since it was on my car.... I dunno the exhaust was kind of a PITA..... the thing was welded on wrong and yah it rattles a tad and the thing leaks a bit lol but funny thing is im still happy with it... the flowmaster muffler sounds f-ing amazing... but it definately wasnt that easy to put on... regardless of how much time it took some others to put on
