Street Tire Survey

Haven't run Fuzions but hear good things about them.
I have run both Pilots and S03. They require different driving styles. The S03's have a softer edge. That means they loose traction gradually at the limit where the Pilots lose it all at once.

Sorry, but mine had the the Kumho Supra 712 tires on it when I bought it last month, and they are not that great. Yes, they are cheap, and where a good tire when they came out (in 2000 if I remember correctly), but there are a lot better tires out there now. If all you want is a decent performing street tire with long life and a cheap price, then they are fine, but that's about it. Personally, I'll be pulling these off even though they still have 3-4/32nds left and will be replacing them with Fuzions very soon.

From: Dallas, then Annapolis - now Laguna Beach CA. Well, not so fast - I'm back in Dallas. For good!
Anybody tried Toyo?
I'm in the market for 275 or 265 17's (R) and 245s for the front and the TS-1s get high marks and are cheaper than SO-3's...
Matt H - where are you on this one...?

Hankook or Khumo, for great performance for the price.
I have said this hundreds of times, the Kumhos are cheap. However, they have such a short life that in the long run they arent cheaper than a better tire. I.e. they have a useable life of about 8-10K miles, after the first 3K they are so loud you can hear a freight train, and their wet performance is abysmal and down right scary.

I have driven on hundreds of tires, I like tires from a lot of manufacturers. I think that if money is not that big of a deal the top of my list would probably be:
S-02A
S-03
Michelin Pilot Sport
If I was on a little budget I would probably opt for:
Potenza RE750
Possibly a BFG
If I was near broke:
Fuzion ZRi (really the best product in this segment, a LOT more tire than it costs)
Yoko ES100 (I dont personally care for them but a lot of people do)

I have the Toyo Proxis for my stock 16" PDs. They have worn very well. Cold temperatures they do not stick very well. Though that can be said about most performance tires. In wet they stick well and are predicatable. When the temperature is hot, they don't "squeal" around corners and under heavy acceleration in 1st and 2nd they hold really well. I like them as a very predicatable street tire.

Ask Jaak to compare his Proxes to his Fuzions. He was tough to convince, but I bet he can relay some interesting information.

P-Zero is a very old design now. It is still a good tire, but the tramlining can be horrible with the wider sizes. They follow every groove in the road.
Never mix and match UHP tires, performance will suffer.
