air fuel ratio hookup?
I know most of the members have run the sensor wire to pin 24. (i think) But i wanted to know if its possible to splice into the black sensor wire after the O2 sensor connector? I heard it will give you the same signal without having to plug into the computers wiring in the floorboard. Just asking for a confirmation if it's ok or if someones heard something different. I just don't want to bother the computer until i really have to. With my luck, as soon as i touch the thing i would probably get struck by lightning on a clear, blue, sunny day!
Thanks all

The black wire for the O2 sensor is 2 (or even 3) internal wires (depending on the spec of the car?)
Tapping into the DME for the O2 sensor is small job:

I tap into the connector (at the rear of the head) and the guage works fine. It is a 3 pin connector, you have to ensure you have the right pin.
When the connector is open there are 3 pins 2 male one female or 2 female one male - depending on which end (females have holes males have a stick ).
I tucked a fine wire into the single female pin and then reconnected ran the car and checked it with a voltmeter (changing signal between 0 and 1 volt) then connected to a more substantial wire to run back to the guage.

Its best to connect at the DME, this is a very low voltage and if you connect at the connector in the engine bay you run the risk of inducing EMF onto the signal.
Small risk, but why take it. Its really not a big job Connecting at the dme, just remember to disconnect the neg battery terminal anytime you are working around the dme.
There are several owners in your area, maybe one would give you some pointers.

Beware that the factory O2 harness is heat resistant, which makes it a real pain to solder, and there is lots of heat coming off the exhaust, which makes electrical tape and heat shrink vulnerable.
