"Haters" on the roadways
I just thought I'd ask a quick question and I'm sure this has been posted before or you have faced some sort of this on the roads. Today was a sunny day in West Virginia, so I decided to take the 951 for a little drive since the salt had cleared and there were few gravels on the roads. I get flipped off by some redneck in a truck with no bumper, for no reason and at Wal-Mart pulling into a parkingspace some guy walking by calls me a ******. I'm sure it is just out of jelousness(prob not a word), but was wondering if you all have gotten any "negative" or just plainn rude *** people?

They both looked at you frst - you are probably not too big and they are gay. Nobody ever says anythng to the 230 pound block mason
I wouldn't worry about a couple of jealous gay guys, man.

Yeah I'm not a big guy at all and I actually look young for my age. I'm 19, but look like about 16 or 17, which sucks, but oh well. Yeah I usually just start laughing or don't even pay attention to them. Laughing usually makes them more angry, or when I open it up a little

I'd say it might have something to do with your age. As you get older idiots don't tend to do that anymore. You're 19 and driving a 951 - if I'd have met you at that age I sure would have been jealous!

Look at it this way. He can't even afford to replace his bumper and you, a young kid from his perspective, are driving and $80,000 car. An yes the uninitiated think every Porsche costs $80,000.
I bet that if you were driving an old beat up Camaro, Firebird, or Nova that same person would not give you a second glance.

on the flip side, I had my car parked in hotel driveway as I always do, and on new year's eve, I caught a pair of young asian kids taking pictures of each other posing in front of my car.
I think that's cool.

RKD in OKC I totally agree. I guess the car, for me being at a younger age, comes with the territory. Hassel that I will gladly accept for the thrill of owning a 951!

Most of my coworkers think my car is $50k or something. Of course I think they also think im like 28 or around there Got some funny looks when they found out I JUST turned 20... Apparently a few people have asked my boss how much I get paid to be able to afford a Porsche LOL.
I havent had much of the stuff that you gotten, the harsh remarks. I HAVE had kids in crappy Civics with rimz glare me down, but on the flip side ive had quite a few people walk up to me in parking lots and compliment me on the car. I remember one guy telling me he had had many Porsches, including 911 Turbos and such, and he confessed his 951 had been his favorite. And my favorite one, a kid in an old Camaro pulling into a 7-11 behind me eager to ask me about my car.
Dont worry about it, there will always be people who cant accept that someone else has a nicer car/house/etc. If they are so petty that something like that ruins their day and makes them hate you, they are not worth your time. Just ignore them. For every person like that, there will be two who love your car and talking to you about it is a bright point in their day.

Just don't be cocky, and showy, because you own a Porsche. People respond to that arrogance in a negative way.
I'm 17 and get nothing but respect, only because if anyone tried anything, I'd hurt them.

Yeah I never try to rev my engine or run my car or anything. I just mind my own business and just drive. No offense to West Virginia, but here in this state, we do have some "red-necks" who just are out to be rude, but anyway, I'm not going to let it bother me. I'm not worried about it

Dude,
1. You're in West Virginia.
2. Without carnal knowledge of a first cousin, you are the definition of a West Virginia F_g.
3. They can't read the part that says "Porsche". It has too many sylables.
4. They do have carnal knowledge of a first cousin...and she's FAT!
5. See number 4.
6. Those who frequently use the derogatory term, that I censored, found Ned Beatty VERY ATTRACTIVE in the film Deliverance.
7. #6 is not confined to only W Va. It's everywhere.
8. Those guys were/are proof positive that Darwin was right.
9. I get nothing but positive comments, even from high faluting 996 drivers, about my car, and it's performance.
10. I guess I had better stop bitching about all of the Rednecks in my area. Yours are REALLY bad.
11. Finally, Get The Hell Out Of That Godforsaken State! Just because it's nice to look at doesn't mean it should be inhabited!

I have personal knowledge of the different ways people look at you in different cars, mine span the spectrum.
In the Chevelle I had a father in a 540 wagon with his son tell me I have a beautiful car and he wants a project like it for his son.
I have had bums on the median at an intersection yell to me "beautiful car."
In the Alpine White 951 I dont get a second look. (white is good as awilson40 said)
