Of course I will take everything into consideration including price, but so far the cup car kit from paragon looks good.

NZ951, put some empirical data why the KEP PP is a must, remember "everyone else must bring data"

Well, just off lifting them, its a few kg lighter (didnt weigh them though, I had already made the decision by then!).

I am sure KEP have done the testing and can provide you with the data however I am not going to blow smoke up your ***.

hehe, that's good enough reason, but I will have to draw the line somewhere, else my credit card company would do it for me. The weight saving is tempting but then what about US$650 for a aluminum flywheels, the list goes on ...

Ah ha! I got SFR to machine and resurface a stock one to 8.5lbs, cost $200 IIRC. So you get some rotational mass so starting isnt at 2K and revs need to be matched but its not hard to do, and you get quick revs. A local guy who has been racing 944 turbo's for 14 years tried the ally fly's and said they were rooted after one season and attributed to the heat and ally not being suitable. Plus a 5.5lb fly is VERY light. You can probably get a local engineering sop to do the balancing and lightening for less. You should at least resurface the flywheel given its out.

PS Chapel Street rocks.

Not back and forth, SFR just sent me one. It was only 8.5lbs and was bundled with the rest of the clutch kit and other parts.

Chapel Street is for alcoholics and 16 year old beauties

let's try and keep it legal shall we?

i don't think u'd save that much to be honest:

689 + 99 shipping USD = 1012.53 AUD (assuming 20lb shipping weight)
customs duty = 8% of 788.09 AUD (689 USD) = 70.81AUD (assuming the FTA concessions apply to these parts, else it's 15%).
GST = 10% of all the above = 10% of 1012.53 + 70.81 = 108.33AUD

comes to a total of 1191.67AUD.

so yeah, you'd be saving 160AUD and it would be cup vs stock. but afaik the only diff between cup and stock is the clutch disc, and you could get that here for not much more money.

personally, i would pay the 160AUD to deal with someone local - are you doing the work yourself, or is someone else doing it for you?

Is that a fact, If so it could change the equation. I am actually getting someone to price me a clutch job with local sourced clutch. But just looking at other options fearing the worst. I am not going to do it myself unless I have access to a hoist.

I paid tax once, its a pain for sure. You just have to be smart about it. However, the cost of the KEP and cup setup was many hundred less than getting original parts local.

it's not a fact fact, it's my best guestimate. based on what i paid for my KEP PP less than a week ago.

if you look at the pricing on paragon, it's 20 USD between the cup kit and the stock kit, and afaik the only diff is the clutch disc. i'll prolly know soon enough anyway, as i am trying to source a cup disc locally for my setup.

I know Ben and Matt at Weltmeister well
But I am looking to go to a non-Porsche shop that don't charge the obligatory POL tax

As in Porsche Owner Levy
