Default 2,5L/650hp, dream or reality....?

Hi guys

I must tell you about 951 project in Sweden that kill all of my old asumptions about what you can do or not can do.

This Swedish guy is planning to put out about 600-650Hp from a 2,5L engine, he is planning to rev 8600rpm, boost about 2,2bar.The thing is that he dosen´t care about any old thinking he just marsches on! Right or wrong, you tell me!

So is this guy crazy or just a new thinker that aimes for the sky and will succeed!
What do you guys think is neccesary to make 600hp on a 2,5L?

My goal of a driveble 500Hp car on the track and on the streets seems all of sudden just not that impressive...

Here is some pictures of the car..
looks pretty crazy dosent it!

Pretty big turbo DOOHH!

/Pete

When they looked at the logg last summer they calculated 480-500hp on the injektors dutycycle.. At that time they made 1,8bar and they reved 7800rpm on stock hydralic lifters.. That´s crazy in my world and I can´t figure out how that machine gonna hold together making 8600rpm boosting 2,2bar even if they go to mechanichal lifters.....

That turbo is massive,no wonder he will need to rev his car to the high 8,000's he wont make boost till 7000.The guys not crazy he just has a plan for his application.I think its mighty impressive.600 hp on a 2.5 what he needs is a big turbo CHECK,a ton of boost CHECK,And a wallet the has a never ending supply of green in it. If honda 1.8 L can make 600hp at 32 psi of boost porsche could do higher. That car is cool as **** it wont be streetable power but dam!

Crazy car is the word of the day!
It´s some kind of HUGE KKK charger.. It made full boost at about 5600rpm last year!!

The thing is that he is planning to use the car to "drift" That makes it even more odd if it holds together..

When I talked to him on the phone a couple of days ago he told me that last year they should of had no problem making high 11 sec runs on the Quarter mile. Next year the car builders says it will be a 10 sec car!!! First 951 in the world then what I know of!

no wonder he doesn't get full boost before 5600rpm. the turbo is so far away from the exhaust manifoil, that he could order a pizza and eat it before he gets any real response.

Hey, Sami951 posted that same car here earlier last year

IF he coul dget 8,600rpm, then it would be possible to get ~600+ HP (not RWHP). RWHP would be ~550whp............

Airflow would be his biggest point, i see a carbon fiber intake manifold, which SHOULD be flowing more now how is the cylinder head? he should have some titainium valves, retainers and super P&P there........

PS, I WANT THAT TURBO!!!!

Well I think the head is one of the finest pieces on that engine. The state of the art head job are made of a guy called "Grottis" before he was killed in a bike accident last year. He was one of Europes best head rebuilders maybe even one of the best in the world.. Most of the guys in Superbike series had Grottis tune thier Superbike heads.

To the next year it will be a new intake, camshaft, remove the hydralic lifters, turbo and I think they will move it to the other side of the engine..

I've no doubt it can be done, the question is - how long will it last? Is he expecting to tear down this engine after every race like a drag car?

That's a monstrous turbo!!!
