Default $3000 for a 3.0L 968 motor

Does anyone know if you need to change the Computer when putting a 3.0L motor in a 951.I am guessing you need to, due to the Vario valve timing crap on those.Does $3000 for full motor and brain sound like a good purchase.I am going to rebuild it anyway has 111000 miles on it.

You'll also need the wiring harness. There are others more knowledgable that should post soon.

Sounds like you are definitely in the ballpark, especially if you are getting the ECU, harness, and other accessories associated with that engine. When I was shopping around for a 3.0L engine a year ago, I found them to range between $2,500 and $3,500. I ended up spending $2,500 for what turned out to be a stripped down, kinda crusty S2 engine. I would have been better spending a bit more for a cleaner, more complete engine. That way I would have avoided the additional time and expense of properly cleaning and prepping the engine, and could have re-couped more money from good accessories not needed for my project. In my project I'm using a 2.7L N/A head, therefore, I'll be using the 951 management system. I'm not familiar with your options to keep the variocam in a turbo application ( I'm assuming that's what you are planning), but others here should be able to properly advise you. Good luck with your endeavor.
