wow man, thats to bad. i took my 944 to work all winter last year with a set of conti snow tires. woked pretty well, handling and braking wasnt an issue but startin from a stop in some snow was tricky sometimes. did drive it once with the es100s the first snow fall and that was a big mistake. i have minimum coverage as well and was sweatin the entire time driving. dont think the back end was straight the entire time i was driving

Ouch Dude!! Sorry to see that.

How fast were you going? As there could be some frame damage also.

It doesnt take much on summer tires. With my S-03s on my 540 if there is 1/8th inch on the road, I just stay home. Once the tread fills with snow it is all over.

Sorry Zack, that sucks!

This is a good lesson to all, however, there is a reason that tire companies make winter tires.

i've learned a long time ago that all-season tires on our cars means 'all seasons except for snow'.

with snow tires it's not too bad, but it's still not the ideal car for snow driving.

I'm sorry dude, I had a similar experience last winter when a deer dashed out in front of me as I was losing traction around a corner. Missed the deer, but caught a snow bank and a tree.

Zack,

That's a damn shame! Judging by the snow on the tires and the imprints in the driveway I bet you whished you had just taken a cab.

That will eat up a few weekends.

Ouch. I drove around in the falling snow tonight for a good 3 hours, in a truck. . . It was hectic, but I'm damn glad I didn't wreck another car, especially since it's not mine! Two vehicles in a week would nooot be fun. Best of luck.

Zack sorry to see that.I am just wondering if your front tires are rotational the pic is unclear kinda looks like they are on backwards.just an observation tough to tell with pic but that could kill your ability to turn.

Default Driving 951 in the snow

I am sorry to hear about your accident.
Crashed my first turbo 6 years ago the same way.

Zack, that's a real bummer! It looks like the body repair could be some serious $$.

I was driving from Hartford to Boston last night (day after Xmas) and I-84 was real treacherous as the snow was starting. Between Hartford and the CT-MA state line, I counted eight vehicles off the road. Every single one of them was an SUV!! One was upside down on its roof up against the median barrier and it didn't look good at all. The rest were pretty mangled, too. Fortunately I left the 951 at home for the weekend (the S-03's are a no-no in snow). I was driving my Passat with new Dunlop Wintersports and had no problem.

Be careful out there! And if you must drive in snow, have the right tires.
