"The car had race gas in it so Im thinking the FQS switch would have been turned up, cus the car had guru chips also, but i can smell the 104 or so octane. Could the FQS switch stop the car from starting?"

The FQS switch adjusts duty-cycle for different size injectors. Make sure it's set for the injector size you're actually using.

Does the crank spin OK when you put a wrench on it and turn it? If not, did you install the crank pulleys properly? There's a washer that goes betwwen the lower timing pulley and the oil pump. If it's on there, the pulley might be too tight against the oil pump. It may not be the electrical system at all. (*cough* speaking from experience....*cough* ;-).

One other thing that I dont understand is if it is the grounds or connections, how would it not start. I mean it does turn over, slowly but I think it turns over enough to start the car....

By the sounds of it you're car is not cranking fast enough #1==Check battery-starter.

Are you getting fuel ?

Are you getting spark ?

Did you look at the plugs ?

Did you check you're timing belt plus the timing?

Did you check you're reference sensors ?

Check you're rotor cap

Is this the starter from the bad engine? Maybe it was damaged trying to spin the bad engine.

Yes it is the starter from the car that got cranked for a long time but...doesnt the starter make a horrible sound when it goes bad? In the other car I have the starter was bad and made a horrific sound on startup.

There is more than one way for a starter to fail. Try the other starter.

Derek,

I have an extra starter for your car that I never installed. I bought it on eBay - was never tested but I was assured it was fine. Let me know if you are interested. Hope all is well - by the way I found the wheel key the other night if you still need it.

i didn't read all the posts so someone may have already said this...but check the ground connection on the top of the bellhousing.... mine was bad and it almost seemed like a bad alternator or battery, volt meter was wierd and all that, easy check. Just put some jumper cables from the negative to your engine. see if it starts. the wire might be attached and look ok but might be crapped out inside, thats what happened to me.

One more thing, the fans didnt turn on when the temp rose. What should I check for that? I think the fuse is fine. Anything else?
