You could buy the ceramic stuff and use it on the headers. You could also air dry them instead of 'baking' them, something that i am keen on doing this up comming week.

Hos,
I've tried it. Though it says you can air dry, the reality
is that you've got to bake it .
The question here is will that manifold last after doing
the coating. Why ??????think about it. If you could coat
the interior than things could be different.
Hey NZ,
Is manifold coated inside as well ?

Hey Andrew
Not to sound like an idiot but I thought ceramic coated meant like white, black i.e. not transparent
Yours seem to be more like Airborne, PC coatings vs Swain or HPC, which are like thick non transparent??
Regards
Ed

J: hmm, good thing you told me, i was going to puchase some on Monday........
The thing is, i ordered a Thermo-Tec Heat Blanket (as TonyG recommended) from Summit Racing. It has been 10 weeks and i still haven't recieved the package when i ordered it express mail (3-5 days) so i was looking for any alternatives.
Even have some 1" X 50' exhaust wrap left over, but not sure if it is enough.

Are you freaking kidding me people? Those headers are ALREADY CERAMIC. Pop 'em off and take a look at the inside. You have factory ceramic exhaust ports in the head, ceramic exhaust header, ceramic crosspipe... ceramic all the way from the valve to the turbo. Not just ceramic coated, mid you. Actual thick ceramic pipe! Danm exhaust weighs a ton, but really keeps the heat in. That exhaust is one of the reasons your cars were so danm expensive in the 80s. What you have on the outside of the pipes is, more or less, a heat shield. Wrapping your headers or getting them ceramic coated is somewhere between overkill and bad. You may trap too much heat in the pipe, and end up having it melt and collapse. This actually happens with the stock double-walled downpipe for some people.
I realize the stock look headers aren't exactly the sexiest thing in your engine bays, but sometimes you have to comprimise function for style.
