i have one for sale as well. PM me if interested.

also, if you're replacing the relay because your cooling fan won't shut off, you might want to check the thermoswitch that's in the radiator first. in my experience they seem to go bad before the relays do.

Paragon and Pelican are selling a relay with an updated part # 944.615.104.03 that works with both.
I believe the 86 is 944.615.104.01 and my 87 is 944.615.104.02. I'm not really sure what the difference is between these part numbers. Tomorrow I'm going to plug one in from a friend's 85.5 and see if it that works.
Hosrom, have you ever shipped anything to the US or have any idea what shipping costs would be?

Thurston944: Dude, for just that relay, shipping would be $25 and get there in 2-3 days (max 5)

I threw a new coolant temp switch in first to replace the original instead of buying the expensive relay since they are less than $20 and the system has been working perfectly since. It was difficult to test my circuit since the fans would only stay on inappropriatey evrey once in awhile. So, if you can test the circuit to be sure what needs replacing thats the best approach but otherwise it may be worth just trying the switch since thats what apparently commonly fails. HTH

I thought it was my relay, since one fan was running on high permenantly. I did the clark's garage test today and the relay sort of passed. The fan turned off when I unplugged the switch. But only one fan was running and it ran on high only. I'm thinking one fan is just out and the thermofan switch is out as well. If that is the case and the relay is fine, then the relay must know when one fan is not working and kicks the other fan on high. Is this true? For now I have the switch unpluged and the AC button is my cooling fan switch.

Pulled off the relay on my NA:

944 615 104 03

This is what the part number reads on the turbo:

944 615 104 01

The NA relays is also slightly bigger (taller) than the current relay on the Turbo.

Thing is, when i placed the NA relay on the turbo, let the car idle, then turned off the engine, the relay started clicking like mad....

I got worried and unplugged the relay...........

Is that bad?

thurston- to the best of my knowledge in the later cars both fans work together- either on or off. The relay doesnt selectively turn one on. An easy check is to just switch the electrical connector from the (known) working fan to the other to see if it runs. I f not running when it should be then the fan motor is bad. Pulling the relay will kill the fan operation regardless.
