Default How much does a windshield weigh

Well this is what happened really...

While removing the roll bar, an employee cracked my windshield accidentally on my 968...The spider web is about 5" in diameter...****!

Is the 944/951 windshield the same as a 968? Spekter has a different model number, so that's the reason I ask.

How much does an OEM windshield weigh compared to an aftermarket Lexan type of product?

What are my options?

Am I no longer legal, by the way, if I try to keep the car registered?

Not really what I had in mind at the moment, but as long as I have to replace it, I might as well consider the optional windshields.

Thanks,

Jason

Stock 951 windshield is about 28#. Lexan is around 10#. Lexan is not good for the street, on a track car plan on replacing the lexan on regular basis (maybe once a year) as they scratch.

I'm actually suprised they're that heavy - I have a 944 (early style) one at home and it's VERY light / thin. I'd estimate it weighs maybe 15 pounds tops. Maybe the later ones are heavier due to the antenna or something, dunno.

Jason you bastard! You couldn't tell me on the phone today?!?! I wouldn't have laughed! Sorry to hear that. It's all my fault... installs on windshields go for maybe $100, but the cost of the glass is probably high unless you can get one from a bone yard. What kinda numbers did you come up with? I got your mail. In one hand, and out the other! Sorry, couldn't resist.
