Not sure what's interesting, it's called outsourcing and is done in every industry in the world. Why do something in-house when someone else can do it better for cheaper?

I too can speak for the individual doing Lindsey's rebuilds, absolutely top notch and I'd go that route over anyone else.

Cool, thanks Sam.

Since mine is already "aftermarket" done by the PO. I guess I would jsut like a little quicker spool up. I know the compressor wheel is shot, so will need a new one.

Ahh, asymmetric compressor blades organized somewhat randomly. Interesting novel design, that should widen the acoustic spectrum as opposed to a distinct “turbo whine”.

Hey, my old one had that! Option code T666 - turbo seizure warning tone. It was designed to produce a high-pitched whining / "police siren" kind of noise so that you'd be aware of what the turbo RPM was and whether or not it had siezed up (if the noise stopped, the turbo was siezed!)

Actually, that turbo whine sounded pretty awesome Like a jet engine spooling up!!

"That turbo looks like a hybrid TO4B of somekind."
That was my guess also, as it performed much better then a stock K26, had 2.75 inlet and held plenty of boost to redline. But not full boost till about 3,6500-3,700rpm. So I wouldn't mind it spooling a litle quicker. And at least now I will know exactly what the turbo is and capable of for more dead on chips.

Dave is calling me today as they are breaking it down this morning.

Also why I don't think I will have to have Lindsey "upgrade" it just rebuild and fix. It would probably be counter productive to spend money on a bigger/better turbo until I get the stock AFM out of there.

Anyone selling a good used MAF kit?

Todd, if my brother-in-law buys Jim's Vitesse stage II kit, he will have an APE kit for sale; say in March of 05. Jim made him a great price on the II kit so maybe he would do the same on the APE kit. Also, tell Dave you're interested in a used one if someone upgrades MAF at Lindsey.

OK, Brett, thanks!

Is that just the MAF/chips or would that be the MAF and piggy back?

Hey, it's almost time for Daytona. You guys coming out again?

No, not this year. DE @ TWS 12-13 of Feb then back to work for me, I think the race is the next weekend.

It would be MAF/chips for the APE, the car has no piggyback.

OK, trubo is on it's way back from Lindsey.

This took longer then normal as the compressor wheel was not an industry standard. It appears that it was a 60-1 compressor that was clipped to fit into the TO4B housing. Now, Dave has had his guy do it right and put a 60-1 wheel in and bored out the housing.

Although, it does have the #6 hotside, with I thought for sure it was a #8 as it did not build full boost till later in the revs and would hold full 18psi to redline. I guess that bigger compressor wheel allowed for that.

So, now, Dave says this should be about the same as their Super 61 turbo's they offer. Was hoping to have it all back and running by Xmas, but oh well. Should notice a lot more flow as per Dave.

Check the backpressure, the #6 is way too restrictive for the 60-1
