Hood pins

Hood pins
Has anyone gotten rid of their hood release mechanism and replaced it with hood pins? The release lever and cable in my car has broken off of the plastic mount by the clutch pedal. I'd like to scrap it and just install some pins. Any suggestions? Sources of pin kits?
Thanks,
Scott

The lever just snaps into its mount. I thought I broke it when I was checking out my car for the first time (read: I didnt own it yet... I kept quiet after I did that!).
I wound up buying the car, and soon found out it snaps back in...

Dzus fasteners would be nice for sure - I was actually wondering if anyone has ever had issues with a (properly fastened) hood coming loose at high speed on these cars earlier today when I looked at the latch mechanism. It's a good latch and it's obviously designed for high speeds, but still I wonder if it wouldn't be smart to have the front corners pinned somehow, especially on a dedicated track car. . .

Thanks for the input. The lever can snap back into place, but where the cable is held in place is broken as well.
I like the dzus fasteners better than the hood pins. Any source of those? Do they make different grades of strength?

Here's another idea.
The car in the photo above has the hood release cable coming out the drivers side of the bumper cover, right near the side marker light. They drilled a small hole, and ran the cable out thru there with a small loop just large enough to stick a finger in to pull it. Thus retaining the factory hood latch and getting rid of that cheesey plastic release lever on the inner kickboard.
I don't have any good shots of it, but the next time I am over at the garage where it is stored for the winter, I can take a shot for you if my explanation wasn't good enough.
Hope that helps!

After checking out Pegasus (thanks Ski) I agree with Sam that Dzus may not work for the hood. On a lightweight fiberglass body panel they'd probably work better than on a steel hood.
Leaning towards the pins. Where would the bolts mount under the hood?
