I have an old one you can have for free... its a worn white boot so you will want to replace it. Or you could just weld on a small piece of metal to the lever and go momo... or whatever. The glare in this pic does not do the CF and black leather justice...

If yours keeps falling off, it's because there is a retaining clip that holds the shift **** to the shift level, your maybe missing.

I have the same **** as NZ951 with burlwood to match the burl dash. I would recommend going to a momo, soo much more comfortable

Speed 6 motor sports has a cheap price on the short shifter (99$) plus getting a shifter

nz951, what did you do with the boot when going to that shifter? Did you have to get a new one or what? I'm really thinking of the lever - style short shifter like that.

I had the same issue with my boot coming off. It turned out that the linkage that connects the shifter rod to the transaxle was loose, which made the shifter very sloppy and the throws so long that it kept pulling the boot off, especially 1st to 2nd.

Eventually the linkage came undone and stranded me at work, so I'd recommend putting the rear end up in the air and confirming that it's tight. It was like getting a short shirt kit for free!

I'll look into that.

I don't like short shifters, it takes away the experience imo

I'll check for a clip for the boot and the links prrovided, thanks

edit: I'm not looking to buy a new boot or **** I'm looking to buy a new shifter (the linkage keeps slipping off the shifter because of the wear on it)

so what the short shifter replaces but stock

is it the leather boot that keeps popping up? or the linkage coming off?

My boot kept popping off b/c the leather was dried up and tight. What I did was took the leather boot and **** off. I cut the shifter linkage about an inch and a half. Then I cut the bottom of the rubber shifter...underneath the boot. I then put it back on. Whoala... you have an instant short shifter...with the original shifter. It also eliminated the boot coming off, b/c there was a lot more play in the boot b/c I lowered the shifter. Works great and looks great too.

Short shift for FREE......I have a pic of my interior and shifter...(I recently put an aluminum and carbon fiber insert on the top..not shown in pics though) on the first page of the 951 picture post thread.....(show your 951 pics here....)

The reason i got the short shifter was so i could get a new shift **** because it has a round **** mount instead of the 944's stock bar one

BOTH!

but it's not from leather shrinkage.

9xauto has what I'm looking for, thanks!

On this related subject:

Does the stock 5-speed boxster shifnob fit directly onto our shifter stalk with no modification? If so, does any Rennlist sponsor sell them?

Hey, its a momo leather boot, you can get them in various colours, I also got the trim piece to connect it to the ****, very clean install. I trimed the momo boot to fit the room available inder the plastic trim, there is simply too much leather to stuff under there as is, so a little trim and it looks pretty stock IMO. Sorry for the late reply...
