It's wintertime over here!
Stepped out of my student apartment yesterday and what did I see..
Snow! Not a whole lot of it, but enough to cover the ground (and roads..) ...
Warming up.. it's been a while since I had to scrape ice off the windows!
I needed to visit a few places but the idea of driving the p-car around on summer tires didn't really appeal. So I just drove to my parent's place and borrowed their car, which is much better suited to slippery conditions (four-wheel drive + proper tires = fun, fun, fun!). Even that short trip was a bit hairy, there was practically no grip what so ever - even slight throttle inputs caused instant sideways action, which is of course huge fun, but gets frustrating once you need to actually go somewhere. Also trying to get uphill proved very difficult - without LSD it would have been pretty much impossible.
Made it in one piece Too bad the next time this car is going to move is when I drive it to winter storage, after which it'll be a long wait for the spring ... also now I have to walk to school (not *that* bad, takes only like 20 minutes) until I find a decent winter beater* somewhere.
*(some of you might remember the Peugeot 106 I used to have last winter - it now belongs to my dear little sister who finally managet to get her driver's licence .. good for her, too bad for me)

Even covered in snow, without your 18" wheels, your car is still one of my favorite cars of all-time on this site! Drooooooooooooooooooool!
That is funny that you can drive to school in the months with nice weather, but in the winter you have to walk. That truley defines Porsche ownership!

Those Nokian RSI's should work in CT as good as they do here in Finland where those tires are designed and manufactured. I have a set of those on my daily driver and i like them.
Sami's car look much better with those white powdercoated phone dials than 18" MAK wheels. Those PD's make car look like Turbo Cup car.

To tell you the truth I'm really tempted to drive the 951 all year round .. in which case I'd grab a set of those Nokian RSI tires in a heartbeat - I hear they're very, very good .. but then there's the issue with cold starts and the wear they cause, plus all the salt they toss on the streets. It's a shame really!
If all goes well I'll be able to pick an old BMW to drive around soon enough. Walking to the school a few times might not be too bad, but I'm sure it'd get really old if I had to do it through the entire winter

Sami- How is FInland to visit? I went to Iceland and didnt want to come back:-) Everyone thought I was Icelandic and the lack of crime and abundance of gorgeous women made getting on that plane very tough...

What about chains on the tires? would that be enough to get the car moving decently in the snow? I mean, it looks like powder more than ice out there, luckily.
Thats one of the few cars ive seen with a spoiler looks good. Have any more? Pictures that is.

The snow hit Stockholm last week... And now it's starting to get dark... at 2.50 pm
Oh well... just another 4 months of this crap.....
Luckily I'm planning 3 months in Australia

Oh,so so sad to see such a beautiful car in such a deep freeze. I think even the powdercoated PD's in all their sweetness wont help... I'll post a pic or two of my frozen pork when I somehow find the strenght to crawl out of my apartment.

951s in snow on summer tires is and interesting experience... I just drove into the mountains on summer tires in some snow. It was all compact through a few passes... Im crawling uphill at about 60km/h hardly on the throttle and I could feel the rear trying to get in front
But once I got below the snow points... Much fun was had on the dry roads with the new Welt sway bars... Till I promptly got caught by the ONE cop out on the highway between nowhere and the middle of nowhere Who happened to own a 944 in the past.
